Sushi & service is excellent! We ordered standard rolls & customized like we wanted with salmon skin, uni, tobiko & quail egg & no rice on some. They accommodated everything we asked for. Fish is fresh & delicious. Tonkatsu bento box was delicious. The pork was flavorful & moist. Batter was light yet substantive. Small and friendly place. Go there!

This place never disappoints. Whereas not inexpensive, the fish is fresh, beautifully presented, wait staff is wonderful. Low key atmosphere makes it welcoming and comfortable. Highly recommend

This is our second time at zum sushi. The prices are very reasonable and the service is outstanding. Would highly recommend. Fyi they don't take reservations. We will be back.

Service: Amazing, friendly and efficient service. We were seated right away upon arrival, and server was very willing to explain menu options. Food was served in a reasonable time period and final bill was provided efficiently. Ambiance: Cozy interior feel with small tables and clean tables/chairs. Family friendly seating and quiet music playing in the background. Food: Absolutely delicious specialty sushi rolls! Sushi is freshly prepared and the rice, fish, and ingredients are flavorful and of high quality. If you enjoy tempura and tuna/ salmon, the Spider-Man and King Kong roll is highly recommended! Overall, an excellent choice for a relaxed Japanese lunch or dinner visit. I will be visiting again when I am back in Monterey!

I would absolutely recommend this place if you're in the area. We ordered seven rolls (two not pictured) and an appetizer to share between six people and it was very affordable. All the food was very good and tasted very fresh as well!

I was craving sushi after visiting the aquarium (lol) so I decided to stop by after seeing the high reviews. Everyone was so nice and welcoming, always checking up on us and how we liked our food. I ordered the züm züm and seaside rolls with a side of miso soup and finished both in 15 minutes! The fish quality and freshness of ingredients was top notch; I would definitely recommend Züm for some great sushi in Monterey.

I took my kids (who love sushi) to this restaurant last week. It's located very close to Monterey downtown which is nice. We ordered sashimi and a few rolls, which tasted so good and authentic. The sashimi was very fresh and the rolls were very delicious, my kids were impressed and they are the sushi experts. I've also noticed a lot of regulars who showed up right after it's opened, it said a lot that this place is well known and a great place for sushi. I'd highly recommend Zum Sushi and will definitely come back whenever we're in the area.

Recently visited again, and updating my review! They totally revamped the interior, and I loved how it felt very cozy and all the workers were super friendly. I finally had the chance to sit at the bar and enjoy some sake with good food. I highly recommend the sashimi-- which is served fresh and I love how they cut it thick rather than super thin. I also love their hamachi kama-- the portions are huge and I love how it's cooked to perfection and it's super moist on the inside and but crispy on the outside. The best thing about this restaurant is their superb service. This will always be my go-to Japanese place whenever I visit Monterey area.
